Orchids have reached their peak at UNC Charlotte's McMillan Greenhouse, and the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens will hold its annual Valentine’s Day Orchid Sale, Friday, Feb. 10, through Tuesday, Feb. 14.

“We invite everyone to take a small break from their busy schedules to stroll through the greenhouse and soak in the beauty and warmth of these exotic plants,” said Paula Gross, assistant director of the gardens.

Throughout the sale, orchids, blooming cyclamen and a selection of indoor plants suitable for bright to medium light will be available. The sale hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, and 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday. Orchids will range in price from $15 to $40, other plants from $5 to $20.

Proceeds support the greenhouse and gardens operations. Select orchids can be purchased in advance of the sale. Cash and checks accepted. For more information, call 704-687-2870.

The Botanical Gardens and McMillan Greenhouse are part of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at UNC Charlotte. As a university botanical garden, the focus is promoting knowledge and appreciation of plants for educational, enviornmental and aesthetic purposes.
