Mission Statement:  The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, in accordance with its Vision Statement, has set as its mission several inter-related goals:
To provide university students with a liberal arts education that helps them become critically  engaged citizens and have rich cultural lives, in addition to preparing them for fulfilling careers;
To advance the frontiers of knowledge through the support of fundamental and applied research;
To develop an inclusive environment where diversity is valued and incorporated in the full-range of college activities;
To promote an international perspective through the offering of programs, courses, and events that help students develop a global understanding;
To enable students to meet the ethical, social,  political,  and economic challenges they will face in their working environment and our increasingly interconnected world;
To serve the public good by providing on- and off-campus instructional programming, sponsoring cultural events, and collaborating with public, nonprofit, private, corporate, and industry partners in the Charlotte metropolitan area, the State of North Carolina, the nation, and beyond.
