International Studies is seeking a full time Lecturer beginning August 2009.  This is a three year, renewable non-tenure track position. Requirements for the position include: 1) a Master’s degree in International Relations or a related discipline; 2) prior teaching experience at the college level; and, 3) a commitment to student-centered multidisciplinary education.  Desired qualifications:  Ph.D. in International Relations or a related discipline; ability to offer courses related to globalization, development, conflict/peace studies, or global governance. Expertise related to Europe or Asia preferred.
Teaching responsibilities will include the introductory course and the capstone Senior Seminar, as well as existing or new courses that would apply to the program’s global and/or area studies requirements.  The teaching load for Lecturers is four courses per semester.  The position includes advising and other student service responsibilities.

International Studies is a fast growing, interdisciplinary program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences that currently enrolls over 200 students.  It is committed to strong teaching, diversity and student retention and offers both a major and a minor.  Students take courses to promote global economic, geo-political and socio-cultural awareness and pursue multidisciplinary concentrations in African, Asian, European, Latin American or Comparative studies.  Additional information is available on our web site:  www.internationalstudies.uncc.edu
