Academic Advising in CLAS

For UNC Charlotte updates on COVID-19:

Current Advising Guidelines:

We will continue to provide VIRTUAL advising services.

Our office in Fretwell 235 is open with limited staffing, but walk-in advising is not available.

To make a virtual appointment with your advisor, please access CONNECT.

NOTE: When you sign up for an appointment, choose “CLAS 30 min. Virtual Advising” for the location.

Please email, and an advisor will contact you:

  • If you are a current/returning student and do not have an assigned advisor in our office.

  • If you have questions about declaring a major in CLAS.

  • If you have other advising inquiries.

For new incoming students for Summer 2021, your first advising appointment will happen when you come to SOAR.

Transient Study Forms:

If you need to submit a Transient Study form, please email the form to Alison Walsh at

  • Must be a high-quality scan or a saved PDF (not a photo).
  • Don't worry if you don't have all the departmental signatures on the form. Ms. Walsh will contact you if additional info is needed.

As of Fall 2020, new students entering UNC Charlotte will need a personal laptop computer to support their college experience, particularly as classes adapt to include more virtual options. Learn more about the Niner Ready Laptop Initiative here. Make sure to review the recommended hardware specs, which will help ensure your device has the power, speed, and memory you need.
